Highway driving typically yields 20–35% better fuel economy than city driving. Your highway range is significantly higher than city range from the same tank.

It's best to refuel before hitting the quarter-tank mark. Running low can strain the fuel pump (which uses fuel for cooling) and may draw sediment from the bottom of the tank.
